The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Procedure
We carefully evaluate our patients’ wisdom teeth to determine whether extraction is truly necessary. If we believe it is, we begin the procedure by making sure that the patient is comfortable. For impacted wisdom teeth (those stuck beneath the gum line), we have to make an incision in the gums. We might also have to break the teeth into pieces.
After the teeth are out, we recommend that patients take it easy for a few days. Most people are able to resume their normal eating habits and other activities within a week or so of their procedure. You are always welcome to call us if you have questions during your recovery period.
